Meet David

Candidate for New York City Council, District 21

David Aiken is a lifelong public servant, labor leader, community advocate , and parent running to represent the families of Queens' 21st District in the New York City Council. A proud member of Local 3 IBEW with over 37 years in unionized construction, David has worked as a foreman, estimator, and project manager — gaining firsthand experience with the struggles and triumphs of New York’s working class.

A native New Yorker and ordained minister, David’s commitment to service runs deep. He has spent decades ministering to underserved communities, advocating for dignity, equity, and justice both from the pulpit and on the ground. His leadership bridges the gap between faith and action — empowering residents through mentorship, ministry, and mobilization.

David is no stranger to political engagement. He has been elected and served three terms as a volunteer member of the New York State Democratic Committee, where he fights to ensure that the voices of Queens residents are heard in Albany and beyond. He has also served on local nonprofit boards and community planning committees, championing affordable housing, youth programs, and environmental sustainability.

Now, David is stepping up to bring real representation to City Hall. His campaign is rooted in the belief that every resident deserves access to good  jobs, safe and affordable housing, clean air and water, and a government that truly works for the people.

With deep roots in the district and a track record of principled leadership, David Aiken is the people-powered candidate ready to fight for a fairer, more just New York City.
